Dr Andrew Frankland

Andrew is passionate about supporting children and adolescents, and the adults who care for them. He aims to help kids and teenagers get a better understanding of themselves, to learn new ways of making life easier and more rewarding, and to feel more connected to the people they care about. Andrew also knows how tough parenting can be, and loves supporting parents to build their confidence, recognise their strengths, and find new ways of connecting with their kids.

 
Andrew established The Kindred Practice to meet the growing need for child and adolescent psychology in the Southern Highlands.  Prior to this, Andrew worked at the Bowral Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Service (iCAMHS) supporting children with complex mental health needs.  Andrew also worked in the Bipolar Disorders Clinic at the Black Dog Institute and held an academic role at the School of Psychiatry at UNSW researching the risk factors for the development of bipolar disorder in adolescents and young adults.  
 

Andrew is a Board-approved supervisor for provisional psychologists completing the 5+1 and Clinical Psychology Registrar programs, as well as for students on placements as part of their Master of Clinical Psychology.  He is also a supervisor at the University of Sydney Psychology Clinic for students completing their postgraduate training in clinical psychology.

Areas of Interest

Andrew has a particular interest in identifying and supporting learning differences in children, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Andrew is also passionate about providing neurodivergent-affirmative supports to children, teenagers, and their families.

Dr Amy Joubert

Amy has a gentle, warm, and empathetic approach and aims to provide adolescents and their families with a safe and collaborative space to better understand their current difficulties, make positive changes, and meet their individual goals. She provides treatment for a range of mental health difficulties and has a particular interest in anxiety disorders. When not at the practice, Amy is also working in the Clinical Research Team at the Black Dog Institute developing and evaluating online treatment programs for depression and anxiety disorders.
 
Prior to working at The Kindred Practice, Amy gained clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults at the Westmead Anxiety Treatment and Research Unit; Rivendell Child, Adolescent, and Family Mental Health Service; and the University of New South Wales Psychology Clinic. Amy also spent two years working at the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD) in Darlinghurst, Sydney where she was involved in creating and testing online treatment interventions for a range of mental and physical health issues (e.g., depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, stress, perinatal anxiety and depression).

Dr Melinda Williams

Melinda is a Registered Psychologist with over twenty-five years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families, first as a teacher and then as a psychologist. She believes in developing warm therapeutic relationships with clients, collaboratively exploring ways to better manage current difficulties and empowering clients to work towards positive change.

Melinda provides evidence-based treatments for a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, OCD, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, behaviour regulation and emotion regulation difficulties. She enjoys collaborating with neurodivergent young people (such as identified as ADHD and Autism) to identify their strengths and advocate for appropriate accommodations.

Melinda has a particular interest in cognitive and academic psychometric testing to identify learning disorders and/or giftedness and to work with schools to optimise the educational journey for clients with different learning needs.

 In addition to her clinical experience, Melinda’s research interests include how girls compete against one another, how boys compete against one another and how adults choose long term partners.

Melinda works with a research team in Evolutionary Psychology at Charles Sturt University.

Maurghen Miller

Originally from Canada, Maurghen studied Education and Psychology overseas in the United Kingdom before eventually settling here in Australia. She has over a decade of experience supporting children and their families as a qualified primary school teacher, parent coach and early intervention keyworker. Maurghen specialises in meaningful inclusion support and relationship-based play therapy approaches. Maurghen is a dedicated advocate for the LGBTIQA+ and neurodivergent community which guides her everyday practice.

Kirsteen Moss

Kirsteen is a registered psychologist who enjoys collaborating with young people and their families to navigate challenges, learn new skills, and increase wellbeing. She provides evidence-based treatments for a range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, and OCD. Kirsteen enjoys empowering young people to explore their identity, embrace their strengths and differences, and live as their authentic selves. With a warm and approachable style, Kirsteen employs trauma-informed and neuroaffirming practices.

Over the past 15 years, Kirsteen has gained clinical experience across roles in youth mental health, crisis support, grief counselling, and perinatal mental health. Additionally, she has worked as an academic researcher at the Black Dog Institute, the University of Sydney, and Phoenix Australia investigating depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Kirsteen works with children and adolescents from 10 years to 18 years.

We are an educational practice

Our psychologists are involved in supervising provisional psychologists in the final stage of their post-graduate training in clinical psychology. These provisional psychologists work under very close supervision from our senior clinical psychologists.
